Juvenile Detention Region General Fund Reimbursement Allocations
Montana state statute directs the Board of Crime Control to administer Juvenile Detention Region General Fund Reimbursement Allocations, provided through state funding. Juvenile detention grants are awarded to five regional detention centers throughout Montana on a yearly basis. Each regional center distributes the funds to assist counties within their regions to establish and operate youth detention services, including but not limited to youth detention facilities, short-term detention centers, holdovers, attendant care, home detention, and programs for the transportation of youth to regional facilities. As a condition of receiving funds, each county is required to comply or substantially comply with state law and policies contained in the Montana Youth Court Act concerning the detention and placement of youth.
