Reporting Policy & Definition
In order for an agency to be eligible for federal grant funding through the Board of Crime Control, the agency must report its crime data to the Board in a timely fashion. The main issue is the definition of "reporting":
"Reporting" is defined as the electronic submission of crime data to the Board in a format following the Montana Incident Based Reporting (MTIBR) structure as published by the Board of Crime Control.
If an agency is unable or unwilling to submit data in the suggested format, according to the definition above, the agency will be classified as a non-submitting agency and thus ineligible for grants.
