Mission StatementThe mission of the Board of Crime Control is to proactively contribute to safety, crime prevention and victim assistance through planning, policy development and coordination of the justice system in partnership with citizens, government and communities. |
• That the Montana Board of Crime Control is the lead coordinating agency in crime prevention and public safety and that we have an ongoing responsibility to be good and effective stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars to that end.
• That intentional outreach to communities and professional organizations is critical to effectively communicate the Board’s mission.
• That funding for programs must be data and result driven and that grant recipients have a responsibility to describe and meet performance measures.
• In supporting and empowering our grant recipients to develop strategies to become more self-sustaining.
• In sponsoring and supporting statewide efforts to promote innovation, best practices and collaboration related to public safety, crime prevention and victim advocacy.
• That victim services should be adequately funded and available to all who need them.
• That investment in staff and Board builds skills to meet the mission and that clear policies and procedures allow staff to be successful in meeting the goals of the Board.
• That honest and direct communication inside and outside the Board contributes to our success and maintains our credibility.
