Mike Ferriter
Mike graduated from Butte Central High School in 1973. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation at Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana in 1977; Mike completed course work for a master’s degree in public administration at the University of Montana in 1982.
Mike served as a Cascade County youth court officer in Great Falls from 1977 through 1979. He was a juvenile parole officer for the Montana Department of Institutions in Missoula from 1979 through 1982. Mike was the director of the Missoula prerelease center from 1982 through 1987. He was a probation and parole chief for the Montana Department of Corrections from 1987 through 1991. From 1991 through 1995 Mike was the bureau chief of the Community Corrections Bureau at MDOC; since 1995 he has been the administrator of the Community Corrections Division of MDOC in Helena. Governor Brian Schweitzer appointed Mike the Director of the Department of Corrections in July 2006.
Mike and his wife Betty have five children: Erin, Colleen, Mark, Mike, and Kevin.
